Upma

Upma, south indian breakfast

Upma…ahh…the very thought of it reminds me of a train journey, especially Rajdhani, in India. It is a common breakfast menu in most of the southern Indian trains and I simply adore it. I have been trying to make the perfect upma from quite some time, like the way we used to enjoy on our train journey, and now finally I have!! Take a look at the very simple recipe…

Stuffed Cabbage Paratha

Stuffed Cabbage Paratha

It’s autumn time in London with cold winters just waiting to arrive. To celebrate the arrival of the new season and get cozy and warm, I recently made cabbage parathas. I am sure you have eaten Parathas with a filling of potatoes, onion, paneer etc but have you tried cabbage parathas?  Here’s the step by step recipe…

Bread Uttapam

Bread Uttapam, Indian vegetarian breakfast

Here’s another delicious breakfast recipe from my mum’s kitchen, also known as ‘Semolina on toast’. It is an innovative way to enjoy the Uttapam, which is basically a south Indian recipe.  Diced vegetables like onion, tomato, capsicum and cabbage are mixed with semolina and yoghurt and toasted over a bread. It is a very easy and quick way to enjoy a scrumptious and healthy breakfast, especially when you are running out of ideas…

Street style Matar Chole

Matar chole, dry peas

I miss being in India and most importantly its street food. I remember as a child how we used to enthusiastically wait, outside our home, for the arrival of the road side vendor selling the yummy matar chole (dry peas). It’s tangy flavour with a touch of spiciness can’t stop you lick your fingers. The best part is that it is very easy to make...

Bean Bruschetta

Veggie bean Bruschetta

This could be one of the simplest yet delicious recipes on my blog. Just 30 minutes and it was done...Hmmm I am still salivating!! A Bruschetta is an antipasto (first course of an Italian meal) and consists of roasted bread rubbed with garlic and topped with extra-virgin olive oil, salt and pepper. Variations may include toppings of spicy red pepper, tomato, vegetables, beans, cured meat, or cheese. The most popular recipe outside of Italy involves basil, fresh tomato, garlic and onion or mozzarella. In this recipe of the Bruschetta I used red kidney beans, onion and bell pepper for the topping...

Onion and Cheese Paratha

Onion and Cheese Paratha

Think of eating Parathas on a cold winter morning, or a rainy day, with lots of butter on it and enjoying a hot cup of chaay alongside (Indian tea)…hmmm mouthwatering isn’t it? Parathas are my favourite and I love eating them any day! I am sure most of you have eaten the Paneer Paratha (Indian cheese bread). But have you tried making Parathas using grated mozzarella or cheddar cheese? I did that recently and loved it completely! Here’s the step by step recipe…

Veggie Stromboli

Veggie Stromboli

It was Friday evening as usual, the best day of the week when me and my husband enjoy some good food with a movie, and I wanted to try this wonderful recipe I once ate at a popular restaurant in US. Do you know Stromboli is nothing but a rolled pizza? Many American pizza shops serve a Stromboli using pizza dough that is folded in half with fillings. Simple isn't it? Check the recipe out…
