Gobhi Manchurian

An Indian Chinese fast food snack made from cauliflower…

Health Check - Cauliflower contains allicin, which can improve heart health and reduce the risk of strokes, and selenium, a chemical that works well with Vitamin C to strengthen the immune system. Cauliflower can also help maintain a healthy cholesterol level.

Ingredients

1 Cauliflower (Gobhi)
4 tablespoon plain flour (Maida)
3 tablespoon corn flour
3-4 chopped spring onions
1 medium sized onion
2-3 green chillies
2 -3 tablespoon tomato ketchup
2-3 teaspoons soya sauce
2 teaspoon vinegar
½ teaspoon red chilli powder
Oil for frying and preparing gravy
2-3 chopped garlic chunks
Pinch of black pepper
Salt to taste

Cooking Method

1. In a container add 4 tablespoons of plain flour and 2 tablespoon of corn flour. Add salt and black pepper to the mixture.
2. Add 2 tablespoons of oil and mix the batter well to avoid any lumps.
3. Gently add some water to the batter to make a smooth paste.
4. In a deep pan add oil for frying and let it heat.
5. Dip the cauliflower pieces into the batter (step 1-3) and deep fry until light brown. Make sure you keep the pan on medium flame.
6. Keep aside the fried cauliflower until we prepare the gravy.
7. In a separate pan add two tablespoons of oil and let it heat.
8. Add the finely chopped onion and garlic to the oil and fry for 2-3 minutes.
9. Now add the chopped green chillies and fry for another 1 minute.
10. Then add the chopped spring onions and fry for another 2 minutes.
11. Add the tomato ketchup and stir well. You can add some water depending whether you want the gravy to be thick or smooth.
12. Add soya sauce and vinegar to the gravy and stir for 1 minute. Also add the red chilli powder if you want it to be little more spicy.
13. Add 2 teaspoons of corn flour to the gravy and stir well to avoid any lumps. Also add some salt to taste. Cook for another 2-3 minutes. (Add water if you want the gravy to be smooth)
14. Once the gravy looks cooked add the fried cauliflower to it and mix well.
15. Cook for another 2 minutes.
16. Your Gobhi Manchurian is now ready to be served.
17. Garnish it with chopped coriander (optional).
